Coroner addresses increase in Franklin County's suicides, homicides and overdoses this year

The Franklin County Coroner, Dr. Anahi Ortiz, held a press conference to address the increase in overdoses, homicides and suicides in the county this year.

Dr. Ortiz was joined by Dr. John Ackerman, Suicide Prevention Coordinator at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Columbus Division of Police Chief Thomas Quinlan.

During the time period of Jan. 1 to Feb. 21, the county has seen a 40% increase in suicides and homicides compared to the same time frame in 2019.
