Josh Bloom is a favorite column of mine, in short because of his unbiased common sense and the absence of fear he shows in calling out the absurdity he find in the so called opioid crisis.

In this article Josh goes after the science and health reporter of the NY Times, Gina Kolata on her article 10 Medical Myths We Should Stop Believing. Doctors, Too. where she is quoted as saying, To treat emergency room patients in acute pain, a single dose of oral opioids is no better than drugs like aspirin and ibuprofen. This claim has been circulated widely because it’s basis comes from a 2017 JAMA Network paper which makes this claim.
